Vaginismus is is the involuntary contraction of the vaginal muscles within the canal that cause extra tightness, pain, burning or stinging at attempt of penetration or right after the start of penetration. This can stem from past sexual trauma, past painful intercourse , anxiety, and even after menopause.

A lot of women will sit in silence and deal with it or they just stop having sex all together. You will still crave sex but you will eventually begin fear it too. Frustrations will start to build up in the relationship.

Once this is recognized and you have talked to your dr. about it , they will recommend vaginal exercises, vaginal physical therapy, start or increase your masturbation practice and they may recommend sexuality coaching .

Vaginal de-armouring is a technique when you use your fingers or a yoni wand and press into the vaginal tissue where there is sensitivity, tightness/pain. The point is to recognize and release tension and pain. It’s a session that cannot be rushed. I suggest doing this as a solo act because you can better assess your tender areas and have control of pressure, but you can for sure ask you partner to help massage your vagina.

I recommend the use of our slim Yoni wands to begin your de-armouring practice. Starting with a slim yoni wand is a great way to practice self-love and release the extra tension, stress, and sensitivity as you gently massage your yoni. Set your intention on your wand as your goal to release the numbness and tightness inside your vaginal canal. Your yoni is a delicate flower and should be treated as such. The Rose Slim wand is a favorite amongst women. They are made from GIA certified rose quartz in which helps to open and amplify the heart chakra.
